My first interview and a special guest in S Magazine!

Another week is here, and this time it is a very exciting one as I am off to Barbados on Thursday! I can’t wait to go. I’m going to start my packing tonight, as it is always very stressful! I will be updating you with my essential holiday wardrobe so watch this space for that.

This weekend I had two pages in S Magazine. My first celebrity interview featuring Hayley Hasslehoff in our ‘In The Closet’ feature. This was great fun, and Hayley was a pleasure to interview, as well some amazing clothes.

My second one take place last week with TV presenter Anita Rani. She was again lovely, and had some amazing pieces by up and coming designers. This should be in S Magazine in about a month’s time.

My other feature in the magazine this week actually featured my little brother Jamie! From time to time I am asked to style children for interiors shoots with our lifestyle editor. This particular time I roped Jamie into being a model for the shoot! He was quite shy on the day but I think he really enjoyed himself and the pictures look great. Here he is below in the top right hand corner...

This week I am helping the fashion editor to finalise plans for the fashion editors fashion trip, as well as getting everything wrapped up before I leave on Thursday. I sense another busy week ahead!

Soaked leopard print pumps :-(

I hope you’re all making use of the rain advice I gave you in the last blog! It’s horrible out there. I have already had to remove the flat leopard print pumps I was wearing this morning and put tights over my bare legs! I definitely didn’t take my own advice this morning!!

Today I am still recovering from the chosen name of one of The Apprentice team’s magazine for the over 60’s last night. Hip Replacement was the name of choice. Take a look at the awful cover...

I can’t help but think that even Hip would have been better! Surprisingly they were not the winning team! I was sad to see Glen go though and now I’m campaigning to get Natasha out!!!

I’m busy in the office researching for a potential trip our fashion editor is doing to shoot some high summer stories for the magazine. It’s making me very excited about going away myself!!

There’s been lots going on in the fashion world this week. I particularly love the new advert for Mango featuring Kate Moss and photographer Terry Richardson robbing a bank! Take a look at it here:

I just received a press release with an image of Justin Beiber and genuinely mistook it for Emma Watson, what do you think? The likeness is uncanny!!

I’m out of the office this afternoon doing an In The Closet interview for my page in S Magazine so I’m just preparing the questions and researching for that. Then this evening, (weather permitting) I am off to Taste London in Regents Park. Let's hope the sun comes out!!

Congratulations Lily Allen

Congratulations to Lily Allen who got married this weekend. I just need to take the time to discuss Lily Allen’s wedding dress. Now I have always had a little obsession with Lily, I love what she wears and I admit, even try to mirror it in my own style. I couldn’t wait to see what she was wearing on her wedding day, maybe a vintage Chanel piece I thought, or a 50’s style prom dress, or even a 70’s maxi style wedding gown. But the day came this weekend and Lily’s choice was by Parisian designer Delphine Manivet. The dress, made up of an underdress, covered by a second lace dress was a bit of a disappointment to me.  Lily did of course look lovely, and having just announced that she is again pregnant she had a gorgeous glow about her, however the dress wasn’t what I had expected it to be, considering Lilys usual vintage style.  What are your thoughts??

Fabulous Fathers Day gifts, and something to keep the rain away.

Another weekend has flown by and I’m back in the office. My Father’s Day gift guide was in S Magazine this week. Here it is, some inspiring ideas for those of you who haven’t got anything for your dad yet…

The last few days it has been so hard to decide what to wear. This crazy British weather is all over the place. It’s sunny today but there is rain forecast for the rest of the week so here is my guide to what to wear in the rainy weather.

Sarah Jessica Parker has got it right, wellies, a mac and an umbrella will keep her dry in the downpours.

This festival goer knows how to cope with the warm rainy summer days. By pairing a pretty dress with a pair of biker boots and bare legs you will still look summery but will make sure your feet stay warm and dry.

Here’s what the high street are selling.

Wellies, £125 Burberry at Net-a-Porter, (www.net-a-porter.com)

Floral dress, £59, Oliver Bonas, (www.oliverbonas.com)

Pink rain mac, £30, Topshop, (www.topshop.com)

Spot rain hat, £15, Cath Kidston, (www.cathkidston.co.uk)
Floral Umbrella, £10, Fulton at ASOS, (www.asos.com)

Khaki Parka, £30, Miss Selfridge, (www.missselfridge.com)

Biker boots, £45, Dorothy Perkins, (www.dorothyperkins.co.uk)

 Happy shopping and keep dry!

A Rainy Friday

Friday’s are always quite a quiet day in our office and this crazy British weather is horrible so it’s a day in front of the desk for me. This week has been a busy one. It started off down in Eastbourne at a tennis club. We were asked to do a Wimbledon style tennis shoot so I went down to assist our deputy fashion editor at Devonshire park. Luckily the rain held off and the shoot looked great. Tennis styles were seen all over the catwalk this season...

                                                   Tommy Hilfiger

                                      Lacoste

And you can work these styles into your wardrobe with high street pieces...

Try a simple white dress like this one £20 from ASOS, (www.asos.com) Or add a little bit of colour by pairing a coloured pleated skirt with a white vest.

Pleated skirt, £29, Topshop, (www.topshop.com)

Vest, £79, Reiss, (www.reissonline.com)

For those chilly summer evenings take a cable knit like this one from Tommy Hilfiger.

Knit, £100, Tommy Hilfiger, (http://uk.tommy.com)

This week I’ve also been sorting out a couple of press trip that I’m going on. One of the perks of the job is that trips abroad some times come up, perfect for someone who loves to travel the world! My first trip is to Barbados. This is a press trip to review a new hotel on the island. The hotel is The Fairmont Royal Pavillion, (http://www.fairmont.com/royalpavilion). I can’t wait to go. Four days of complete paradise, here's a taster just to make you all very jealous!

 Barbados beach

The second trip is to Rio De Janiero. Next year we are doing an Olympic cities special. Each city is somewhere were the Olympics has been or is going to be. Rio was my chosen city. I have always wanted to go there and it looks incredible. Organising it has been a bit of a headache, but I am finally getting there and am hopefully flying out in September.

Another exciting trip!

This weekend I'm off home to my parents house. Can't wait to have a nice relaxing weekend! Have a good one!

Welcome To My World

I've often been told that I'm in my own little world, and I thought it was about time I shared it with everyone else, so welcome to My Fashion Planet.

First let me introduce myself. My name is Lindsay, I am fashion assistant and journalist for the Sunday Express newspaper. I really enjoy my job, although like any other it has it’s ups and downs, but I get to meet some really interesting people and experience some great things in a subject that I love, and I wouldn’t change it for the world.

I have recently moved to London and am still getting used to being in the big city! I don’t know many people here, so I’m still finding my feet and getting to know the areas. Summer is coming and there will hopefully be lots of exciting experiences up ahead. Follow my blog to see how I get on and get all the insider gossip from the fashion world.
